Old Tales For New Times

Old Tales for New Times is a collaborative project between tattoo artist and illustrator Suzie Pow and writer R.M. Collier. Together, they are creating a collection of ten short stories, each accompanied by an A1 graphite drawing that serves as its opening centrepiece. Taking inspiration from the myths and legends of the British Isles, the project reimagines these traditional tales through a darker lens.

From the outset, the aim has been to create something both captivating and chilling. The illustrations depict dark and foreboding scenes from Anglo-Saxon England, while the accompanying stories are written in an old style of English that evokes the spirit of traditional folk tales. Together, words and images seek to unsettle the reader, and plays with the reader’s inclination to sympathise in a complex and unsettling way.

Every print comes with a free zine featuring the full story.
